I got a couple of calls like these this morning. The last time I picked up and hit 1, some guy with an Indian accent asked if I had internet, even though the message said they'd charged my MasterCard. I told him no, and he just said thanks and hung up. Another call came from 00498811148707 with the same sort of message but now they claimed to have taken £600 from my bank. Can't seem to block the number on my landline yet, but I’m hoping to do that once I switch over to Sky Talk next week.

Some of our mates aren’t as clued up as us, so these dodgy scam calls can really throw them off - make sure you give 'em a heads up!

This number keeps ringing me and each time it’s taken £600 from my account. Total scam for sure. Wish I could block these calls but my phone doesn’t let me. Really frustrating!

Got a call from 001482847195 with some automated message saying it was Visa, asking me to confirm a £600 charge by pressing 1 to talk to someone. Don’t even bother replying. Just end the call and report it to the ICO and Action Fraud straight away.

Isn't there any way to put an end to this? It's really disturbing, especially for older folks who are more at risk.

I got this message about a £600 visa charge three separate times this weekend - clearly a scam trying to catch people out.

Got a call from a woman saying she was from Visa Secure. She told me they were about to take £600 from my bank right away. If I didn’t approve it, I had to press "1" to speak to someone. I had a very similar call just the day before but from another number. Pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got calls from this number a bunch of times, all about some dodgy £600 Visa cash withdrawal scam. The weird thing is, it shows up as a UK number, but it’s actually a proxy from Norfolk or somewhere around there! Total scam alert.

It's clear these scams are getting a lot cleverer and more tricky to spot. I'm sure it's just a handful of dodgy gangs behind most of these annoying calls. Seriously, Interpol, step up and crack down on these muppets already!

Got a call saying there was an emergency about £600 charged to my Visa card. I looked into my accounts and didn’t see any transaction like that, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam.

These calls are just a trick to frighten folks and take advantage of those who are easy to fool. Don't fall for it, it's nothing but a scam.

Same here. Got two recorded calls today, both with the exact message mentioned earlier. Just ended the call straight away and definitely avoided pressing 1.

This number 001482847195 has called me a couple of times today. They said there was a £600 withdrawal from my Visa that I hadn’t authorised. Please don’t call them back like they tell you to, it’s best to avoid it altogether.

In the span of just a few hours, I got calls from 001482847195 (USA), 001227700663 (USA), 01508538400 (Brooke, England), and 001508538400 (USA). What’s weird is that two numbers look nearly the same but are said to be from different places. Kind of odd to get all these calls back to back with such similar looking numbers!

Got a dodgy call around 5pm on the 5th of July. It was one of those pre-recorded messages claiming to be from 'Visa'. Definitely a scam.

Does anyone else think there might be some sort of scammers guide that says £600 is the perfect amount to freak people out? Feels like they picked that number on purpose to really scare you.

Just got a call not long ago, about 5 mins back. Same story as what others have said. They want you to hit 1 to chat with their ‘advisor’, but I didn’t do it. They’re really dodgy about which bank the charge is linked to on your Visa. Would seriously steer well clear of these lot.

My 91-year-old grandma got a call from someone saying she needed to pay £600. They were so rude and harsh, which really upset her. It’s got scam written all over it, no doubt about that.

I got calls from 001482847195 around 5:30 in the evening on back-to-back days. My mum, who's in her seventies and has the beginnings of dementia, answered one of the calls. Apparently, they were asking her for money. When I asked to speak to them, they just hung up straight away. This number definitely looks like some kind of scam, and it worries me because folks who are elderly or vulnerable, especially if they live by themselves, could easily be tricked.

Today, I got two calls about a £600 visa thing - definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Got a call from this number a minute ago, someone said there was a £600 charge on my visa debit card that I hadn’t approved. They said if I hadn’t allowed it I should press 1. I just hung up straight away.

This is the fourth time today I've had one of those recorded calls saying I've got a £600 charge due on some Visa card I've never even had. They say the only way to cancel it is to ring their pricey support number, which is meant to cost a whopping £600! Absolute joke.

They’ve rang me three times now, each call coming from a different number.

Trying to block these calls is pointless because they keep changing the number with some kind of random generator. What you really want is a phone that not only stops the numbers you block, but also screens anyone not on your approved list by asking them to say their name and hit the # key. These robocallers can’t get through that, so your phone doesn’t even ring. I’ve got a BT 8500 and it works well, though there are loads of similar ones you can buy.
