My aunt got a call from a phone number starting with 00144, looked like Bermuda, and the person said they were from HMRC. They told her she owed a massive £93,000 in unpaid taxes and warned they’d seize her house and cars if she didn’t sort it out. What’s worse, they said they knew she was born in the US, even though she’s Scottish, and threatened to have her deported. It was awful timing because she’s been through a lot recently - breast cancer, a double mastectomy, and all the surgeries and treatments on top of that. Honestly, she didn’t need that kind of stress at all.

Somebody rang me pretending they were from TalkTalk and there was this weird clicking sound on the line while she was speaking. She said there was an issue with my broadband router and kept going on. Then she asked me to switch on my computer because she said the problem might be with that. I’d had enough by then, so I told her nicely I’m actually with Virgin Media and she should stop wasting my time with their dodgy scam. Oddly enough, she just hung up right after that. These kind of calls should be banned asap.

Yesterday I missed a call from this number while I was out. Didn’t get around to calling back since I used 1471 to mark it as a spam call. What’s odd is that the same number but without the 0144 at the start - so 01793520613 - had called me before. Both numbers are really alike, and I’ve reported both just to be safe.

Got a call from someone claiming to be “talk talk.” I told them my line was acting up and asked for a number I could ring back. They started rattling off some random digits, and I had to tell them twice that wasn’t a proper phone number. Eventually, they just gave up and ended the call. Total muppet.

Got a ring from this number a moment ago. The bloke claimed to be from TalkTalk, saying something like ‘your router’s sending us strange signals’. I shot back with, ‘well, since the router’s their property, send over a replacement pronto then’. He said ‘will do’, but then suddenly switched to ‘hang on, your PC’s got issues too’. I couldn’t help but laugh right there and told him everyone in the UK knows about these dodgy calls. He kept asking ‘are you mad?’ and I was like ‘yeah, definitely’ before slamming the phone down. Left him blabbering away all confused.

I started using BT call blocker and wow, no more dealing with those nasty scammers. Honestly, it’s been a lifesaver - haven’t had to put up with any irritating or dangerous robocalls since. Highly recommend it!

got a couple of calls from this number saying they were from talk talk, saying there was an issue with my router. they wanted me to switch on my computer to fix the problem. funny thing is, i do use talk talk broadband but i knew straight away it was a scam. told them to jog on and ended up getting a load of nasty words before they cut me off. total joke.

I keep getting calls from a Bermudan number. As soon as I pick up, they hang up straight away. If I let it go to voicemail, they do the same. There's another number from Bermuda doing the same thing. I've gone ahead and blocked them now.
