Caller sounded Indian, kept probing about some made-up car accident. I told him I'd already taken £15,000 in a settlement, that seemed to quiet him down. I also mentioned I’m on the telephone preference service and that his call was actually unlawful and could end up costing him £5,000.

rang me yesterday and of course no voicemail. guess they dont like talking on the phone? wouldnt have picked up anyway. after seeing all the comments here ive started giving them a fake name cos ive got no more room to block these annoyin calls. absolute pests!

This bloke with a strange accent kept going on about how I'd been in a car crash. I just let him ramble on for a bit, then when he paused, I told him I wasn’t in any accident. To my surprise, he just ended the call straight away.

Got a ring from some bloke calling himself ‘charles smith’ with an Indian accent, said he was from London. I just threw out a bunch of fake names and addresses. The guy was really desperate for the “right” details, said he might get fired if he didn’t get them. At the very end, I told him I thought it was a scam, and he said if it was, he’d be asking for my bank details! (Yeah, right!) I gave up and hung up since he kept trying to convince me it was legit. Oh, and I’m on the do-not-call list too.

I got a call from someone claiming it was about a road traffic accident. When I asked who exactly they wanted to talk to, they just dropped the call. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

I picked up but there was total silence, then the person just ended the call straight away.

Today at 4:27pm, I missed a call and let my answering machine pick it up, but there was no message left. After seeing what others said about that number, I figured out who it was and have blocked it as a nuisance caller now. We just recently got a new phone and answer machine that lets you block individual numbers or even number ranges. What I love is it cuts the call but still shows up on the caller ID list, so you can keep track of who's been trying to ring. Honestly, I'd suggest getting a phone like this to anyone dealing with pesky calls - it’s been really useful for us.

Somebody called claiming to be with a government department from Regent Street, London, saying they’d send me a cheque refund for bank fees. They asked which bank I'd use to put the money in. I pointed out the number showing on my phone was foreign, not from London. Then they asked for my birthday. I told them I wasn’t convinced and wanted to stop talking, then they just cut the call.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying they wanted to pay me £3000 and needed my bank info. I hung up twice, but when I didn’t go along with it, they started getting rude and abusive. Total scam.

Received a call around 9:22 this morning from what seemed like a scammer. The moment we asked for their identity, they promptly hung up on us-before we could tell them to find some legitimate work!

had a guy named daniel ring me up with an indian accent, asking if i had broadband. i said no, dunno why he didnt believe me tho, coz he just hung up after that. total waste of time.

I've received yet another call from a number starting with 00-ringing me thrice and then abruptly stopping when I don’t pick up. The town displayed was Allenton, which seems to be in ISA. Just a heads up, keep your wits about you!

Spotted the number and promptly pressed the disengage button without bothering to answer.

As soon as our answering machine kicked in, these folks hung up straight away.

That pesky cold call feels akin to a scam involving dodgy financial offerings, doesn't it? It's as if they're just trying to pull the wool over our eyes with their nonsense!
