8 yearsJust like others have said here, this seems like a proper scam. What really freaked me out was that the person calling actually knew my full name and where I live. When I called him out and said what he was doing was illegal, he flipped it and said I was the one breaking the law, threatening to send police over and read out my details. That sort of thing could really scare people who’re already anxious. Is there anything that can be done to stop this?8 yearsReceived a call claiming there were security problems on my device and they could lend a hand. I'm not interested, cheers!8 yearsGot a call from this number earlier tonight, but thankfully our call screening stopped it from coming through. No voicemail was left either. After seeing what others have said about it, we're definitely going to block it.8 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were with cyber security and there was an issue with my PC. I told them straight up that it was a scam. Then the bloke started threatening me, saying he’d send people round to my place and he even knew my address! I just ended the call right there.8 yearsSo this bloke rang me and told me to punch some numbers into my computer. He claimed I had a virus and he’d fix it for me. He kept saying, “Press this key, now that one,” then asked what the screen showed. I read out some rubbish like “M Y T U R B I N I S D I R T Y.” He scribbled it down and when I asked him to repeat it, he said, “My Turbin is d###.” I just laughed and told him to clean it, hahaha. Honestly, I knew straight away it was a total con.8 yearsSomebody rang me claiming they were with the cybercrime unit and said my computer was at risk. I just ended the call straight away.8 yearsWhy not mess around with them a bit? When you catch a call that’s obviously a scam, just humour them with fake details like ‘my internet’s not working, can you hold on?’ I once had one bloke on the line for like 15 minutes, it was brilliant. Every second we tie them up means less time they’ve got to bother other people. Helps no end!8 yearsGot a ring earlier from a bloke with a heavy foreign accent, said he was from some company watching over computer networks. He claimed my computer ID was hacked and needed fixing right away. I told him flat out it was a load of bollocks and a scam. Then he threatened that if I didn’t follow his instructions, he’d cut my computer off from his server and I wouldn’t be able to use it anymore. I just said, "Go on then, hang up." Now I’m typing this on my so-called disconnected laptop!! What a load of nonsense! Just hang up on these con artists and don’t give them the time of day.8 yearsHad a rather dubious phone call today from a chap with a rather thick accent, claiming he was affiliated with an outfit that kept tabs on computer traffic and server activity. Apparently, my computer ID had been hacked or some nonsense, and he insisted they needed to rectify the situation. I promptly informed him it was all a load of balderdash and that he was spouting utter nonsense. He then threatened that if I didn't comply with his so-called assistance, he'd cut off my computer from his server, rendering it unusable. I simply replied, “Go ahead then,” and hung up. Funny thing is, here I am now, tapping away on what he claimed was a disconnected computer! Utter twaddle! Just hang up on these con artists.8 yearsJust got a call from what seemed like someone overseas. I ended up telling them I had them on a GPS tracker and they immediately cut the call. Proper cheeky behaviour!8 yearsGot a call from an Asian guy saying my computer ID had issues. I didn’t say who I was at all, just pretended I was jotting down a message for someone. Then I asked what version of Windows the person he was trying to reach was using. That seemed to annoy him big time, he started yelling and then just cut the call.8 yearsGot a call from an Asian woman telling me that my computer ID was about to be taken offline from the main servers, something to do with Microsoft apparently. She kept on going, really pushy. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.Microsoft8 yearsI got a call from this number at about 9.40 last night which annoyed me a lot, sounded like a sales call or something dodgy. I ended up just hanging up straight away and blocked it using my BT call blocker. Then this morning around 8am, it rang me twice again but the caller ID was hidden both times. Proper nuisance!8 yearsGot a call from this number where some bloke was really nasty, telling me to jot down a number or else my internet would get cut off. It was the second time they’d been ringing. Luckily, BT gave me some solid tips, and I found out I can block dodgy calls using BT Protect, which doesn’t cost BT customers a penny. The guy on the phone was pretty threatening, but I didn’t back down and ended the call quick. Fingers crossed I won’t hear from them again!BT8 yearsGot a proper nasty bloke on this number saying if I didn’t jot down some number, my internet would get turned off. This was the second time he rang me. Luckily, BT had already given me some solid tips, and I’m using their free BT Protect service now to block these pesky calls. That scammer was so rude and threatening, but I didn’t back down - I just ended the call. Fingers crossed he doesn’t bother me again!BT8 yearsSome bloke with an Indian accent rang me, claiming to be from the main server of the World Wide Web, talking about issues with my computer’s network connection. I never gave him my name, just pretended to go along with it and kept him chatting for around 15 minutes. Eventually, he got annoyed and ended up calling me an idiot before hanging up. Definitely a scam call.8 yearsI got a call from someone who sounded Asian, just to wish me a good night and sweet dreams. Told them I wasn't interested and ended the call.8 yearsI rang up an elderly woman about a problem with her PC and she told me the police said not to answer those calls because it’s a con.8 yearsYou should have a look at Kitboga on Youtube, honestly he’s so good at exposing what these computer hackers are up to! It’s pretty funny and eye-opening.Kitboga8 yearsGot a call from this same number again today. When I answered, there was silence, then a robotic female voice said "goodbye". Pretty annoying, went ahead and blocked it straight away.8 yearsKeep getting calls asking for a Mr Turner - been happening for years, you’d think they’d switch the name by now. Usually I just hang up straight away, but once they claimed I had an unpaid electricity bill or something. Weirdly, one of the numbers showed up from Egypt on my phone. This was on Saturday 24th March. It’s mostly the same woman calling, though sometimes a bloke, always with an accent.TurnerEgypt8 yearsJust got a call from a lady who ended the chat with a really weird ‘bye’, sounded pretty creepy tbh.8 yearsOn Friday the 23rd of March, 2018, I got a call from a woman who spoke with an Indian accent. She claimed to work as a technician for Microsoft’s “world wide web server.” She seemed to know my name (although I didn’t say if it was correct) and had my UK phone number too. She insisted she was calling to “fix my internet service” because it was supposedly cut off - which wasn’t the case at all. Despite her being quite polite, she was very pushy. I managed to keep her on the line for around five minutes before she finally ended the call.MicrosoftUKSubmit Your Own Report (41132241999)
