I got a call saying my Windows licence was about to expire. They claimed they’d been trying to reach me for the last couple of weeks, sending several messages that I never replied to. I just ended the call right there.

Some bloke rang me saying my computer was hacked and my licence was about to get cancelled, and that I'd lose access to my PC. I told him I actually work in IT (which I don't, just to be clear) and he just hung up on me. Total scam, no doubt about it.
