I received a call from "The Green Research Centre" and promptly inquired about their identity. Upon disclosing my preference against such calls, specifically mentioning my registration with the Telephone Preference Service, they abruptly ended the call as soon as I mentioned "Preference". Given that I requested my number be removed, are they now legally obligated to comply? Does anyone have a clue who they might be representing in the UK?

I frequently receive calls despite being ex-directory. How on earth are they managing to find my landline number? Is there anything I can do to put a stop to this invasion?

Today, I received a call on my landline from an individual who sounded Asian. Thanks to my caller ID, I could see the number he was ringing from. He was adamant that I had been involved in a car accident, which I found preposterous! Every time I pressed him on how he obtained my details, he abruptly hung up. I've got an ex-directory listing, for goodness' sake!

I received a call from this number, but when my voicemail kicked in, they didn’t bother to leave any message. When on earth are these callers going to be put in their place?

I received a call from a chap named John, who sounded like he was from Asia, claiming I had issues with my computer. I told him politely that he was talking absolute nonsense and then he abruptly ended the call without a word of farewell! Quite rude, if you ask me!

I received a rather irate call on my landline from a chap with a foreign accent. When I inquired about how he acquired my number, he flew off the handle and told me not to give him any nonsense. I then requested that he remove my details from his database, and he became quite hostile, which prompted me to hang up. After that, I dialled 1471 to fetch the number that had called me, and it was the one mentioned above. What steps can I take to put a stop to this?

Received a rather dodgy call from this number today. It was a woman on the line who seemed rather perturbed when I mentioned I thought it was just another scam. She pressed me on who had informed me, and I replied that it had been making the headlines quite a bit lately. Not long after, she hung up. Honestly, something needs to be done about these callers; they appear to ring quite regularly!

On Saturday, 6th June at 11:35 in the morning, I received a call from a gentleman of Asian descent who purporting to represent an IT security firm. He expressed a desire to verify the functioning of my computer. I didn't hesitate to terminate the conversation straight away.

I received a call on my number here in Hampshire tonight (5th June 2015). Just a short while later, they tried reaching out to a nearby resident. When I answered, there was complete silence, but I could faintly hear what sounded like some sort of office background chatter, so I decided to hang up. My neighbour noted it was an "international call" and promptly ended the call without saying a word.

This number kept ringing us repeatedly one evening, but whenever we answered, there was complete silence on the other end. Oddly, it was just a nine-digit number. When I tried to ring it back, the moment I reached the eighth digit, a message popped up saying the number wasn't recognised, then told me to hang up, which is different from the normal "please hang up and try again" message. Very strange!

I received a call from an Asian-sounding gentleman claiming to be affiliated with the Green Research Centre. He inquired whether I owned the property, to which I cleverly responded that I was merely the cleaner. I kept him engaged in conversation for a good five minutes, just to ensure he wouldn't be reaching out to any individuals who might be more susceptible while he was chatting with me.

Got a call from someone who said his name was Sam, sounded like he had an Indian accent. He was trying to tell me about "viruses and germs" on my computer, clearly a scam. I decided to humour him for a little while, pretending to follow his instructions. Then I asked where exactly in London he was from. He gave me a fake address which was so obviously made up. I said I'd just look it up on Google, and then he quickly ended the call.

Got a missed call earlier, and I was honestly relieved to be out at that time - these calls never bring any fun. About an hour later, I got another call, but no one spoke, and it was from a blocked number.

Classic phone scam alert! Just had a call from someone named "Katherine" with that unmistakable Asian twang. It was 5:28 on a Bank Holiday Monday, for crying out loud! Are they ever going to take a hint and stop pestering us?

Received a rather dubious call earlier today purporting to be from Microsoft. When I probed for the specific office they were supposedly operating from, mentioning that I’m employed at MS and could easily drop by if we were in the same vicinity, they promptly ended the conversation! Quite amusing, really!

I received a call on my work phone, which has a 0300 number, from a woman who introduced herself as Jan Morris. Unfortunately, her accent was a bit thick, and I struggled to catch the name of the company she represented. She claimed she was calling in relation to my Windows PC. When I mentioned that I didn't own any Windows device, she abruptly hung up on me. Curious, I dialled 1471 afterwards and noted the number as 001258945.

I had a call earlier from this number and after a long silence some guy who said he was ‘John Martin’ said it was something to do with my computer. When I said nothing, he just went quiet and hung up after around 20 seconds. Pretty obvious it was a scam if you ask me.

I got a call earlier today from a woman who had quite a pronounced accent - definitely not from Europe, though at times it was tricky to understand her. She claimed she was calling about the security of my computer and wanted me to hop onto my machine to address some issue. When I told her there was no chance I’d be logging in for her, she swiftly wrapped up the conversation with a polite "sorry to have troubled you." Quite an experience, I must say!

Isn’t it a bit perplexing that telecommunication providers don’t offer caller ID at no extra cost? It would make life so much easier if we could effortlessly identify and block those pesky numbers without any hassle.

Received a call today from them. They're after your password and want to establish a connection to your computer. Best not to heed their advice or follow their instructions. I've taken to leading them on for as long as I can; it genuinely frustrates them. Since there's no way to halt the incessant calls, you might as well enjoy a bit of amusement at the expense of these muppets!

What a right nuisance these phone calls are! It's invariably someone from abroad peddling their rubbish. As someone who’s not in the best of health, it’s quite infuriating. I keep telling these blokes to leave me alone, but they just won't take the hint. If only someone like Nigel could put an end to this!

I received an incessant barrage of calls claiming there was a problem with our computer and requesting us to switch it on. Things took a turn for the worse when they became quite rude the moment we handed the phone over to my partner.
