I answered the phone and they said it was "The Green Research Centre." I quickly told them to stop calling since we’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service, but they just cut me off mid-sentence as soon as I mentioned the prefs. So does that mean they’re supposed to delete our number now or what? Has anyone got a clue who these lot are actually working for over here in the UK?

I get calls pretty often too and I’m on the ex-directory list. It’s baffling how they manage to get hold of my landline number. Does anyone know if there’s a way to actually block these calls for good?

Got a call today on my landline from this number, guy sounded Asian. My caller ID showed the number straight away. He kept telling me I’d been in a car crash, which was total nonsense! I kept asking where he got my details from since I’m ex-directory, but then he just hung up on me. Strange call!

Got a call from this number, but as soon as the voicemail kicked in, there was no message left. When will this nonsense finally end??

So this guy, John, rang me at home. He said there was something wrong with my computer. I told him I thought he was talking rubbish and then he just cut the call without even saying bye!

Some bloke from abroad rang my home phone and got proper mad when I asked how he even had my number, saying “don’t give me that nonsense.” I told him to remove me from whatever list he had, and he started swearing at me, so I just ended the call. Then I dialled 1471 to check the caller ID and it showed the same number. Any idea how to put a stop to this?

This number rang me earlier today, a lady was on the line. I told her straight away it was probably just another scam. She asked who said that, so I mentioned it’s been all over the news recently. She just ended the call right after. These calls keep coming and really should be blocked, they’re constant nuisances.

At about 11:35 on Saturday 6th June, I got a call from an Asian guy saying he worked for a IT security firm and needed to check if my computer was working right. I quickly ended the call, not trusting it one bit.

Got a call on my Hampshire phone tonight (5/6/15). Pretty quick after, they dialled my neighbour’s number. I answered but no one said anything, just some strange "office sounds" in the background, so I just hung up. My neighbour noticed it was an "international call" popping up and ended it straight away without chatting.

This number kept ringing us repeatedly one evening, but whenever we answered, there was complete silence on the other end. Oddly, it was just a nine-digit number. When I tried to ring it back, the moment I reached the eighth digit, a message popped up saying the number wasn't recognised, then told me to hang up, which is different from the normal "please hang up and try again" message. Very strange!

This guy with an Asian accent called, claiming he was with the Green Research Centre and asked if I owned the place. I told him I was just the cleaner instead. Managed to keep him chatting for about five minutes, hoping that would stop him from bugging anyone more vulnerable while I had him on the line.

Got a call from someone who said his name was Sam, sounded like he had an Indian accent. He was trying to tell me about "viruses and germs" on my computer, clearly a scam. I decided to humour him for a little while, pretending to follow his instructions. Then I asked where exactly in London he was from. He gave me a fake address which was so obviously made up. I said I'd just look it up on Google, and then he quickly ended the call.

Got a missed call earlier, and I was honestly relieved to be out at that time - these calls never bring any fun. About an hour later, I got another call, but no one spoke, and it was from a blocked number.

Another classic Windows scam call today at half past five on the Bank Holiday. The woman on the line, introducing herself as "Katherine" with a strong Asian accent, seemed relentless. Honestly, do these scammers ever take a break?

Today I got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft. I played along and asked them which Microsoft office they were calling from, telling them I actually work there and could drop by if they were nearby. They didn’t have an answer and ended up hanging up pretty fast!

Someone rang me on my work line starting with 0300 and introduced herself as Jan Morris. I couldn’t quite catch the name of her company because of her accent, but she said it was about my Windows computer. I told her I don’t use Windows, and she just hung up straight away. I checked the number by dialling 1471 and it showed as 001258945.

I had a call earlier from this number and after a long silence some guy who said he was ‘John Martin’ said it was something to do with my computer. When I said nothing, he just went quiet and hung up after around 20 seconds. Pretty obvious it was a scam if you ask me.

Got a call earlier from a lady with a thick accent, not one I could place exactly, definitely not European. She was trying to warn me about some issue with my computer and asked me to log into it so she could fix it. I told her there's no chance I'd do that for someone on the phone, and almost immediately she said "sorry to disturb you" and hung up.

It's so annoying that phone companies don't just give us caller ID for free. Then at least we could stop these annoying calls by blocking the numbers. Feels like they just want to make more money instead of helping us out.

Got a call today from these lot trying to grab my password and get me to link to my computer. Honestly, I’d just say no and don’t follow anything they ask. I like to drag the convo out and waste their time when they call again. Drives them bonkers, and that’s the only revenge you’ve got! You can’t seem to block these calls, so better to mess about with the muppets a bit.

Annoying as hell these calls! Always someone from abroad pushing rubbish. I’m unwell and struggling already. Every time I tell those idiots to leave me alone, they keep ringing anyway. I’m convinced Nigel might be the only one who could put an end to this faff.

I just had a rather peculiar call from this number. Why on earth can't the telecom companies take action and prevent these sorts of calls from getting through? It’s quite baffling!

I received an incessant barrage of calls claiming there was a problem with our computer and requesting us to switch it on. Things took a turn for the worse when they became quite rude the moment we handed the phone over to my partner.
