I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT, saying my IP address wasn't safe. I told him he was talking nonsense and just ended the call.

Got a call from a woman speaking with a very thick Indian accent, couldn’t even say “virus” right, sounded like “wirus”. She said she was with Windows and claimed my PC was hacked, even repeated my licence number back to me. I knew straight away something was up. She tried to get me to do a few things to prove she was legit. Then I asked where she was calling from, and suddenly the call dropped. A different number rang back shortly after, but I didn’t pick up. Just a heads up to everyone out there!

My mum got a call from this number, and the person said they were from BT. They told her her laptop wasn’t secure and offered to guide her through some steps to fix it. Mum isn’t really good with computers so she didn’t do anything. She gave me the number afterwards, so I looked it up and came across this site. Seems like a total scam to me.

Got a call from a US number, but the person on the line had an Indian accent. They claimed to be from BT and said my IP address had been hacked. They were trying to get me to log into my PC. I told them to send the info over email instead, and then they just hung up straight away!

Got a call like that myself, some bloke pretending to be a Windows expert threatening to lock my PC down. He sounded like he might’ve been from Asia, spoke proper good English, and knew plenty of rude words too! When I joked about sheep and donkeys, he got all tense, which was quite amusing. The funny part? I don’t even have Windows - it’s just a storage unit! So yeah, watch out for these dodgy calls.

Today, I got three calls on my UK number from someone claiming to be BT. They told me my computer was infected with "unwanted malicious files" and said they needed to remove them straight away "from the admin section" of my device. They even provided a callback number, 0800800150, which turns out to be BT's official helpline. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I've just had the same number ring me about five times in one hour, proper harassment. It’s really risky if you’re not careful. It reminds me of what happened to my mum back in January - they kept ringing and tried to get money out of her by asking her to purchase iTunes vouchers. She was getting calls non-stop for days, and it really messed with her head because of her age. They were clearly preying on her. Eventually, her bank had to step in to block anything going through her account just to be safe. Honestly, these sorts of scammers need to be shut down for good.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, said there was a problem with my IP address. They tried to 'sort it' through Google or something. Honestly, steer clear of that!

Got a couple of calls today from someone claiming to be BT about the internet, but they kept ringing my inlaws too. When I finally answered and told them we’re not BT customers and that we’re registered with the TPS, I asked to be removed from their calling list. Right after that, the person - a woman with a strong Indian accent - just cut the call. The number showed up as +1 253 896 3867, which is actually from the US.
