10 yearsRight, so this just happened. I picked up the phone and the lady goes, “Can I have your full name please?” She sounded like she had a thick Indian or Pakistani accent. Then I asked where she was calling from and she said “Microsoft.” I then asked for an address and she told me “100 Victoria Street, London.” When I asked for a phone number so I could call back she quickly asked why I needed it. Before I could say anything the line went dead. Pretty clear what was going on there.Lisa WilliamsMicrosoftVictoria StreetLondon10 yearsReceived two calls within a mere five minutes. Neither time did anyone speak, and then they just disconnected.10 yearsGot a call showing "INTERNET UNAVAILABLE" on the screen, I picked it up but there was nothing on the other end. As soon as I said hello, the call ended immediately. When I looked up the number, BT had it down as 001226490001.BT10 yearsThis number kept calling me three times and the caller was so rude when I said I didn’t need any help with my computer. It was a guy with an Asian accent and he even asked if I was some kind of computer expert. Then he phoned again and the last time he spoke to my partner, threatening to shut our account down by morning. I was shocked at how nasty he sounded!10 yearsThey've rung me up like three times over the past couple days, each time with a different story - first it was about my laptop, then my internet security, and once about my internet connection. Whenever I wasn't buying their spiel, they just hung up. They even got a bit nasty once. Honestly, these folks are terrible - best steer clear. Since they've kept calling over and over, I'd say it's borderline harassment too.10 yearsAvoid these people at all costs, they’re nothing but trouble and completely toxic. Definitely not worth your time.10 yearsHad about a dozen calls last weekend and a couple more this morning. Thankfully, I installed BT CALL GUARDIAN ages ago, and it’s seriously the smartest move I made. I keep a second phone connected so I can see who’s calling me, but the calls only ring once unless they tell me exactly who they are and I decide to pick up. This way, I don’t have to deal with all those dodgy scam calls constantly ringing through.10 yearsI received a call from a man with a noticeable Indian accent, and as soon as I mentioned that this number is listed with the Telephone Preference Service, his attitude took a turn for the worse. He retorted with a rather dismissive "Do I care?" and then had the audacity to say something along the lines of, "I'm a woman who talks too much." He then handed the phone off to a mate, who didn’t hesitate to let fly with a rather choice expletive before promptly ending the call. Honestly, such rudeness is appalling, and it’s clear he has a rather misguided view of women!Preference Service10 yearsGot a call around 8:30 this morning from a guy with an Asian accent who said his name was David. He claimed there was an issue with my internet. I decided to mess with him and kept him talking for ages, leading him nowhere. After a while, he asked what the screen was showing, and I just told him, "How do you sleep at night?" before hanging up. Honestly, I think the authorities need to crack down on these types more, as this is probably one way terrorists fund themselves.DavidAsia10 yearsBloody nuisance, these callers! They rang us five times in a row around half past twelve, hogging the line and driving us daft. I kept insisting they stop bothering us, but one chap, sounding like he was from India, just yelled, "I couldn't give a toss! It’s midnight on my end, and I’m well up for keeping this going!" In the end, I just went silent and put the receiver down in front of Radio 4. After a good five minutes of that, they finally gave up and let us be.IndiaRadio 410 yearsGot two calls today, both from Asian guys. The first bloke was proper rude, saying I hadn’t paid my internet bill and threatened to cut me off. He started throwing insults right away, which was pretty shocking. I told him he was being unprofessional, honestly felt like a joke. Then about 7 hours later, another guy called saying he was going to shut down my computer. I told him it was a dodgy call and just hung up. So if another Asian call comes through, I’m just ignoring it completely now. Not interested in chatting at all.10 yearsGot two calls from the same number today. First one said there was something wrong with my Windows laptop. I said I don’t own a laptop at all and then they just hung up on me. The second call was just silence, no one speaking, but it was from that same number. I thought these kinda scams stopped a while ago, but guess not!10 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft, sounded like a total scam. Added the number to my blocked list so next time I won't be fooled.Microsoft10 yearsGot a call from some bloke pretending to be from 'Windows Support' - all the while using a name that sounded way too English to be genuine. We’d already put ourselves on the do-not-call list here in the UK ages back. Funny thing is, now these con artists are trying their luck from the States. We might be pushing 60, but we're no mugs!UKAmerica10 yearsHonestly, it feels like BT and Ofcom aren’t really cracking down hard enough on these scams. They should be doing way more to stop it.OfcomBT10 yearsGot a call from this number earlier, said they were from Microsoft tech support. Honestly, just ignore it, it’s a waste of time.Microsoft10 yearsYet another typical scammer from India trying to pull a fast one on me. I played along with “Dave” for a bit, but eventually, I got fed up and told him where to go. Honestly, it’s high time we took some serious action against these fraudulent chaps!IndiaDave10 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were with Windows support. We talked for a little while, and the person got quite pushy. When I mentioned I was using a Mac, they just ended the call straight away.10 yearsI got called by someone claiming to be from Microsoft, just minutes after another call that didn’t leave a number. This one was pretty pushy, saying my PC was full of malware and even called me clueless about computers. I asked them to prove they knew my name or anything about me but they just kept saying my computer was at risk and they had lots of alerts. Don’t give them any info, just end the call immediately, it’s definitely a scam.Microsoft10 yearsThanks to our brilliant new BT phone, we’ve managed to put a stop to those pesky calls. It’s like a breath of fresh air! We were constantly bombarded with annoying ring-a-dings from morning till night. They often masquerade as your broadband provider, but don’t be fooled - they’re definitely not the real deal!BT10 yearsI received a phone call today from someone purporting to represent Windows, but it was clearly a ruse. This is nothing more than a straightforward scam aimed at hijacking your computer and accessing your details. Whatever you do, don't engage with your device. If you're in the mood for a bit of fun, you could always string them along before handing them a cheeky four-letter word or blasting a whistle down the receiver and disconnecting. They always seem to have an Asian accent and adopt an English name. The downside is that they tend to call incessantly; I've had more than twenty of these nuisance calls so far. I've decided it's high time to invest in a call blocker and go ex-directory. I've had enough of it! Stay safe, jc.10 yearsYesterday, this number popped up on my phone. Got me well annoyed since I had the same thing happen the day before but without any caller ID. The bloke claimed he was from Microsoft - sounded like he had an Asian accent. Told him straight up I’m fed up with time-wasting scams and just hung up. The day before that, the caller sounded female and African. Today, the same number rang again but I saw it and just ignored it.Microsoft10 yearsGot a call from a guy with a strong Asian accent claiming to be from Microsoft. I quickly realised it was a scam and told him to get lost. I'm gonna report this to the police and all the proper authorities so they can put a stop to these dodgy calls once and for all.Microsoft10 yearsAbsolute scam! Honestly, tell them to buzz off immediately. It's quite worrying that folks are still getting caught out by this rubbish.10 yearsGot a call this morning, not once but three times, from some bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from "Microsoft technical support." We’re on the TPS list and seriously, I’m fed up with it.MicrosoftTelephone Preference Service10 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were with Windows tech support trying to sort out my PC. I just told them to find real work and left the phone by the side until they hung up.10 yearsThese cheats are at it once more! Seriously, it’s high time these scumbags got what they deserve, enough is enough.10 yearsGot loads of calls from someone called 'Max Jerry' who had a thick Indian accent. Said he was from some Online Technical Services and claimed to be linked to Microsoft. Told me my computer had some nasty viruses and needed fixing asap. Wanted me to install remote access software so he could 'sort' it out. Pretty clear it was just a scam trying to borrow my trust.Max JerryOnline Technical ServicesMicrosoft10 yearsAvoid giving any details to these people, they say they’re from tech support but it’s just a scam. Just tell them you don’t have a computer or internet, and hang up.10 yearsJust received yet another call from this number! The chap had a foreign twang and was rambling on about some computer glitch. When I realised he was being rather impolite, I decided to keep him on the line without answering.10 yearsI had yet another frustrating encounter with one of those dubious callers. In the end, he abruptly cut the line when I cheekily inquired whether his mother would be proud of his daily efforts to swindle unsuspecting folks. Talk about dodging the question!10 yearsI received a call from this number earlier today. The caller informed my wife that our computer had been hacked and insisted he needed to 'repair' it. She ended up conversing with him for a good few minutes but wisely refrained from sharing any personal details. In the end, she told him to get lost and hung up. Does anyone know if there's a way to report this number? Or am I right in thinking it's simply a matter of ending the call and moving on?10 yearsGot a ring from this number, sounded alright at first. The bloke said he was ringing about my computer, but I reckoned it was probably some kind of scam. So I just told him I don’t own one (which isn’t true) and said I’ve got caller preference set up. Then I just hung up.10 yearsGot a call from some Asian bloke claiming there was something wrong with my computer, I just told him to get lost. Had enough of these annoying prank calls.Asia10 yearsI received a call from this number around half seven this morning-what a cheek! I was attempting to enjoy a rare lie-in, so by the time I made it to my landline down the stairs, they had already hung up. These kind of calls keep coming, it's downright harassment, if you ask me. I’m well aware it’s all part of a scam, but it baffles me how some folk still get caught out by this nonsense. If there’s any way to prevent these nuisances, I’d greatly appreciate it!10 yearsReceived a call today from someone claiming to be from the 'Windows Service Centre.' He introduced himself as Mike Young, though his accent was quite distinctly Asian. He mentioned that there were issues with my computer, but I told him I wasn't at home right then. I asked him to provide me with his number to call back later. The number he provided was 02031291406. After some consideration, I've decided against returning his call.WindowsMike Young10 yearsReceived a couple of calls from this number this week. The chap on the other end had an Asian accent and claimed to be from Windows, insisting that my computer was infected with a virus. I told him to shove off since it was clearly a scam.10 yearsI received a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from Windows, insisting that my computer had been hacked. I've encountered numerous such calls before and usually hang up without engaging.10 yearsI’ve received calls from this number as well, but I’ve chosen to ignore them. After conducting a reverse phone lookup, it seems to be originating from Mount Brydges in Ontario, Canada. My recommendation would be to steer clear of answering.Mount BrydgesOntarioCanada10 yearsI just received a rather dubious call from the number 001226490001. The gentleman on the line, who had an Asian accent, introduced himself as Jonathan from Windows. He claimed that my computer had a virus. I promptly told him that wasn’t the case and that he was clearly attempting to pull a fast one on me. He insisted that I lacked technical know-how while he was the expert, asserting that he understood the matter better than I did. I reiterated that he was trying to con me. Following this, he became quite irate and threatened to switch off my computer, asking if I wanted him to do so. I responded rather nonchalantly, “Go ahead,” which seemed to take him by surprise as he quickly replied with an “oh” and then hung up.JonathanWindows10 yearsSo today this caller rang my mum, who’s quite old, pretending to be from BT about some changes to her landline fees. Thing is, mum isn’t even with BT! They even got her postcode wrong and asked if her bank card number began with a 4? Luckily, she realised something was off and ended the call straight away!BT10 yearsGot a right earful of abuse from some irate guy, sounded Asian, when I said I wasn’t using a Microsoft Windows PC. He reckoned I was fibbing and threatened to call every single day if I didn’t play ball. I’ve passed the number on to the cops and BT, though doubt they’ll bother doing much. Seriously, avoid answering if this number pops up!10 yearsI got a rather alarming phone call today, where the caller claimed I could find myself behind bars if I failed to comply with their demands. Honestly, I just chuckled at their threats and hung up without a second thought!10 yearsYesterday I got a call from a bloke speaking with an Asian accent, claiming to be from Windows Tech Support. I told him I don’t handle stuff over the phone, and he just lost it, shouting I wasn’t a technician and getting really nasty. He kept saying if I hung up, he’d keep calling non-stop until I gave in. So, I ended the call, but the ringing didn’t stop for like 30 minutes straight. Since then, they've called a few more times today as well.10 yearsYesterday, I got a call from someone who sounded Asian and claimed they were from Windows tech support. I told him I don’t handle stuff over the phone and that seemed to really annoy him. He started shouting, saying I wasn’t a real technician and kept threatening that he’d keep calling me non-stop if I didn’t 'cooperate'. I just hung up, but he kept ringing me for more than half an hour straight. They've been at it again several times today too.10 yearsReceived a call on my landline claiming there was an issue with my email account. I told them to get lost!10 yearsReceived two calls from this number today. I really wish I could put a stop to these nuisance calls!10 yearsI’ve got caller ID set up on my phones, and I tend to ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise. If it’s really important, I reckon they’ll drop a message. Speaking of which, is there a brochure available aimed at seniors or those who might be at risk, perhaps highlighting the risks associated with these sorts of calls?10 yearsI’m from the UK and received a call from someone who sounded like they were either Indian or Pakistani. Initially, they were quite courteous, but when I requested that they remove my number from their database, their tone changed. He claimed it wasn’t possible to do so, which prompted me to hang up. To my annoyance, he rang me straight back, so I informed him that I’d be lodging a complaint. He insisted I needed to converse with him, otherwise he would continue to call. He did attempt to reach me one final time, but I decided it was best not to respond.UK10 yearsRinging me up before half nine in the morning for unsolicited calls (they did it two days in a row, mind you) led me to point out that they’re likely flouting the law.10 yearsString them along for as long as you can, but whatever you do, resist the urge to let them into your computer! The individuals on the other end often have thick Indian accents and tend to use dodgy, made-up English names. This is all part of a phoney Windows CLS-ID scam. Just a heads up - most contemporary Windows PCs have a common SLID number, so regardless of what these con artists claim, their number isn’t exclusive at all. To clarify, the last part of the SLID number goes: 00C04FD7D062. You can verify this information at the following link: http://www.welivesecurity.com/2011/07/19/support-desk-scams-clsid-not-unique/ Remember, DO NOT EVER provide these individuals access to your machine!10 yearsThese so-called Microsoft support callers are ridiculous. I usually tell them their mums must be really disappointed with their job choices, then just put the phone down and wait for them to hang up first.Microsoft10 yearsAbsolutely the same here... I called straight back as soon as I hung up. This isn't the first instance either.10 yearsThey kept calling me over 20 times in just an hour and a half, saying there were error messages popping up on my PC. Totally a scam, they weren’t gonna stop anytime soon.10 yearsGot a call from some bloke claiming to be from Windows saying my computer had issues. I told him I don’t even own a Windows laptop, but he insisted I do. Dunno how he could know that? When I was having a hard time catching what he was saying, he cheekily told me maybe my hearing was the problem!10 yearsSome bloke rang me claiming to be from Windows support, said my computer had issues. He sounded like he might be from somewhere in Asia and was really cheeky, calling me by my last name without even a "Mr" in front. Then he went as far as saying I had "no brains". I just ended the call straight away. Not long after, he or someone else from the same place gave me another ring. I found this out by checking the number they called from. Pretty sure it’s one of those dodgy scam calls.10 yearsTotal scam, just put the phone down immediately!10 yearsEvery few days, I get these calls and as soon as I pick up, they just hang up. Same pattern all the time.10 yearsReceived a call claiming to be from Windows, stating there was an issue with my computer. Things took a turn for the worse when I pointed out it sounded like a scam; the caller became quite confrontational!10 yearsReceived an infuriating call earlier on my 86-year-old dad’s phone. He doesn’t own a computer, so you can imagine how rattled he was when they said they were aware of a computer linked to his address. I’m here with my iPad on mobile data to help him out, but honestly, this sort of thing is unacceptable! It leaves one wondering, who exactly does one turn to for complaints when the number isn't even from the UK?UK10 yearsI've been told there's an issue with my computer; it's allegedly related to Windows, but I suspect there's a fair bit of exaggeration going on.10 yearsI've been inundated with these persistent calls lately. They just won't stop ringing and the language being used is downright offensive.10 yearsI've had repeated calls from this number-it’s become a right nuisance. Each time, I hear from someone with an Asian accent who insists they’ve gotten error alerts from our computers. My son challenged the chap once, and I couldn't believe how abrasive he was; he even had the audacity to threaten us, saying something like “your countdown starts now.” It’s incredibly vexing and bothersome. Clearly, these blokes are up to no good, and I urge everyone to stay alert around them. It's high time action was taken against these charlatans who are just out to waste our time!10 yearsI've been getting calls from this number claiming they've got issues with my Windows computer. Today, a chap named Mike rang me up, and when I challenged him, he informed me he was the 'big boss' there and proceeded to threaten that my life would become a nightmare, saying the clock was ticking. His tone was utterly disgraceful. It's beyond me how these individuals manage to get hold of personal numbers and harass people like this. When I requested to speak to a manager or for her to terminate the call, she kept saying all supervisors were "unavailable," and in the end, she just hung up. Her persistence was quite unnerving, and I can see how some individuals might get ensnared by such a ruse. The irony is, I don't even possess a Windows computer! As a bit of payback, I left the phone off the hook for a while to deter her from making further calls. We really ought to do our bit to vex these scammers however we can!10 yearsAn Asian gentleman called me twice, and after I cut the call, he rang back claiming to be from Windows. He proceeded to make alarming threats about blocking my computer because it was apparently sending error messages. He insisted that I'd be locked out and unable to access my machine. These sorts of calls are downright intimidating and should be prohibited.10 yearsAbsolutely appalling experience with a supposed tech support representative claiming to be from Windows. The fellow was quite the charlatan, no doubt about it! I decided to toy with him for a bit, then ended the call. To my surprise, he rang me back straight away, clearly miffed that I’d hung up, and even had the audacity to threaten to cancel my Windows licence! So, I thought, why not keep the act going? Eventually, I hung up again. He persisted, calling me back on four separate occasions, each time becoming increasingly rude.
