Got a call from some guy pretending to be Aled Jones from Microsoft - total nonsense! So fed up with getting dodgy calls every day from scammers, and ICO/TPS never seem to sort it even though I've reported the same numbers for ages! You’d think they could track these folks down and dish out heavy penalties to actually stop this rubbish scam stuff. Even though I’m on the directory and TPS list, it’s pointless when these muppets somehow get hold of our private info illegally!

Got a call from this number when I wasn’t home. When I listened to the answerphone, it was just a woman saying ‘Goodbye’ and nothing else. My phone’s blocked list is already packed with numbers, so I can’t add any more. I get so many annoying calls these days that I usually just ignore any number I don’t know. It might be risky but honestly, I just don’t bother anymore.

It’s one of those auto diallers where the people on the other end can’t cope with the amount of calls, so the recorded voice just says 'goodbye'. They’ll keep calling back though. Looks like the government’s so-called solution to these annoying calls is still completely useless then??

It was lunchtime and obviously one of those annoying calls - Tuesday, Jan 3. Some bloke ringing up to ask three questions, plus double checking my name and address. I said I was 29 (which I'm not) and when he asked about my washing machine I said it's 10 years old, then he just ended the call.

Got a call today claiming to be from Microsoft support saying there’s an issue with my PC. Honestly, next time I might just search for annoying sounds on my tablet and blast it through the phone to them! These calls are such a waste of time when you’ve got stuff to do. Fingers crossed they finally give up and stop calling!

Got the typical "This is Windows Support, your PC is infected" scam call again. Honestly, can't believe people actually fall for it. I told the woman on the line she was a TOTAL UTTER FOOL and told her to just PISS OFF.

Kept ringing me non-stop, asking about my Windows PC even though I told him loads of times I’m running Linux. Still wouldn't stop. Got fed up and diverted his calls to a second phone line I bought, making him rack up massive charges. After a while, he must’ve twigged he’d dropped about £800 trying to call me. I’ve dealt with rude spammers before, but this guy totally lost it. He started shouting down the phone that he was gonna lose his job, insulted my wife, and then I heard what sounded like someone pulling him away from the phone. Never heard from him again.

Honestly, the blame should be on the phone providers who keep handing out phone numbers without proper checks. Take the Bathgate numbers for instance, a business uses them to peddle services that make you believe they’re local to Scotland, but really, all calls come from Mumbai. Apparently, that's where most of these scams come from. Wouldn’t it be great if someone could develop an app to flood these scam numbers with calls till they can’t handle it anymore?

Somebody rang up sayin there was something wrong with the Windows on my computer. Honestly, these kinds of calls should be easy to trace, and those scammers oughta be prosecuted for tricking folks into giving them access to their machines, right? Feels like this should be a no-brainer for the police to step in.

Yeah, it was the Windows team calling. They hadn’t rung in ages, so I thought I’d mess around a bit. The guy said they were legit, so I challenged him to prove it. He tried by saying he could give me my laptop's licence number, so I asked for it. He just blurted out some random digits and told me to check my laptop. I got fed up and told him we only use Apple stuff here, plus the ‘Windows’ laptop is from work, so our IT would contact me on my company phone, not the home one. Told him he was talking rubbish and hung up. I just enjoy wasting their time sometimes.

These scammers from Asia are getting out of hand. Its high time BT actually did something about it instead of just saying "sorry, they're overseas so not much we can do". Honestly, keep a whistle near your phone (an Acme Thunderer works great) and give them a loud toot whenever they ring up. Might make them think twice!

This happened to me before so I answered with a simple "hello." Of course, they said the usual "we're calling from Microsoft" bit. I then asked why they were contacting the police fraud department. Oddly enough, the call dropped right after that like they had phone problems or something.

Got a call from "Microsoft", number 0012245550142, pretty obvious it was from India. The bloke said there was something wrong with my Windows. I went, "oh really?" then he told me to check my computer. I told him I didn't have one. Then he said maybe a laptop. Nope, no laptop. Then suggested a smartphone. Also no. Then I called him out for lying and he suddenly got foul, swearing and shouting at me. I just hung up straight away. They called back about ten minutes later but I let it ring out onto voicemail!

This happens roughly every month or so. I pick up the phone and stay quiet for a bit, thinking maybe it’s an older person or someone calling from another country having trouble, then out of nowhere a cheerful lady says “Goodbye”. I get that everyone needs to earn a living but some of these muppets couldn’t care less about pestering folks. You should report it to your local MP, there’s actually talk about cracking down on this nuisance and the more proof we build up, the better chance we have. Also, don’t bother trying to trace them by their phone digits, they usually get bounced around loads of foreign phone networks which is why the numbers look odd and way too long.

They called me three times on 31 March, about an hour between each call. My caller ID first showed 'unavailable', but now it’s showing a number thanks to some recent updates. At first it looked like a UK number 01224 5550142, then it came up twice as 0012245550142. I decided not to pick up cause I’ve had enough of random unknown numbers ringing me. After reading what others have said, I’m glad I ignored it - usually I end up getting shouted at or they just hang up on me.

On 1/4/2016, my phone buzzed around 10:40am, but stopped ringing after about 8 rings before I could answer it. I haven’t got caller ID but when I checked 1471, the number showed up as starting with 001. Nobody from Illinois would be calling me for real, so it has to be a dodgy call. If they ring back, I’ll tell them I work for a window company just for a laugh! Not the best day for a scam call, seems like they might not celebrate April Fools over there in the States?

Some bloke called from this number saying his name was "Ali" and claimed to be from Microsoft. He gave a number that he said was for the Microsoft office in London. He even read out my PC's Microsoft registration number, which had me hooked for a bit. He told me there was a malicious software causing error messages to be sent to Microsoft. Got a call from someone with an Asian accent. I asked a couple of questions then told them I wasn't interested before hanging up. They rang again, so I just clicked the phone down. When I called back on the number they used, the person said "You're an idiot" and ended the call. Not impressed, Mahatma or whatever your name was. These sorts of callers can be really risky for folks who don't know better.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent. He brought up Windows and I figured he meant the computer kinda thing, but I acted like I didn’t get it at first. Then I told him I didn’t want any new windows since mine are brand new. After that, he just hung up on me. Pretty sure it was a scam, so watch out.

This morning I got a call from this number, a person with a strong Asian accent who said his name was "Stephen." He asked for me by name and claimed he was ringing from the Windows Service Centre. I told him I wasn’t buying it and that I’m sick of all the calls from “them.” I told him to take me off their list and ended the call before he could say anything else.

They rang me two times this morning, I answered and said hello, then they just hung up. I jumped to the phone because I was waiting for a really important call. Tried reporting it to TPS but apparently it's not something they cover. Honestly, phone providers should be the ones blocking these calls.

Some guy with an Asian accent said he was from Windows about my PC. Definitely a scam. Is there any way these callers can be prosecuted for abusing phone services?

Some bloke called 'Roger' got in touch with me again today (his accent was difficult, like Asian but not quite sure) - he rang last week too. I'm sorting out my mum's funeral at the moment, so I've been picking up all sorts of calls. Same old tale as others mentioned here. I told him I was too busy to chat this week. Roger said he'd ring back next week, but I doubt he'll catch me then since the funeral will be done and my close family have a system to screen calls. Curious how many more times he'll bother. Farewell 'Roger'...

This guy with an Asian accent told me to grab a pen and pencil and open up my laptop so he could "clean" my stuff. I just ended the call straight away.

Last year I lost £239 to a scammer who claimed to be from Microsoft. Lately, I’ve had three calls from this same number over the past couple of weeks, each time the caller says they’re from Windows. Whenever I tell them I’m onto their scam, they either try to convince me the call is legit or end up being quite rude and pushy. Definitely a dodgy scam.

+44 1224 5550142 is a total scam! I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, really pushy and quite rude. She was asking for me by name, but I never said it was me. She claimed that my computer was infected with spyware and that it needed fixing immediately. When I asked for her contact info so I could report her to the authorities, like the police or OFCOM, she just hung up straight away. I've blocked the number and reported it now. Stay clear of these sorts!

A woman with a strong Asian accent called me looking for my husband, who’s been gone nearly two decades now. When I asked who she was, she said it was about my Windows computer. I questioned what computer she meant, and her reply was just, "You have a Windows computer." Once I told her I didn’t own one, she hung up straight away. I do use a computer, but I’m not falling for these dodgy scam calls.

I got a call from a lady who sounded Asian, saying there was an issue with my Windows PC. I asked her how she got my phone number and a couple other things. When I said I wasn’t interested, she just shouted "go to hell" and slammed the phone down. Quite rude!

Got a call yesterday from an Asian woman claiming to be from Google. She told my partner that his laptop had been hacked and was spreading viruses. He didn’t buy it and asked for proof. She then asked him to press the Windows key plus a letter key to open a box on the screen. After that, she said the laptop was registered under my name, which was a red flag because it’s actually registered to a company. Once he pointed that out, they just ended the call. Total scam.

This number rang me earlier today, saying they could fix my computer. I kept them chatting for about 20 mins before telling them to wait while I did a trace with the police. Right before I hung up, the bloke shouted something like "F##K You" at me.

A man claiming to be 'David' called me, but his strong Asian accent gave it away straight away - definitely not the name he gave. I’ve dealt with these scams before, so I made sure to keep him on the line and grilled him with loads of questions. He got pretty frustrated after a while. In the end, I told him he’d need to speak to my husband instead, as he’d be much harder to fool. Honestly, it’s quite worrying… With my name, initials, address and postcode all out there, someone not as sharp could easily fall for it.

Someone with an Asian accent called, claiming to be 'Michael' and asked me to turn on my computer so he could "fix" my Windows. I decided to humour him until he asked me to describe what appeared on my screen. I replied, "It’s showing a cheeky little bloke trying to scam me." He hung up straight away. (No idea why he did that!)

Mine came through round about 9:15 in the morning, just like what someone else said here before. It was just a few beep sounds followed by a robotic voice saying ‘goodbye’. They’re making these calls to check if someone is actually picking up the phone. If you do answer, expect them to ring you again later, pretending to be from Microsoft with some issue about your PC. I use Talk Talk’s last caller barring, so these nuisance calls get blocked pretty quickly - but they always switch their number when they want to try again.

Honestly, gotta say, they must imagine folks are daft. I got a call about some computer I supposedly bought, saying there’s been some dodgy stuff going on with it recently. When I asked where I bought it from, the bloke couldn’t answer. Then I told him I don’t even own a computer, but he insisted I did, kinda laughable. These scammers are a joke. I told him to shove off and ended the call right away!

For the last four days I've had this number ringing me every morning at about 9:15. It’s always the same thing - dead silence for about 10 seconds, then a beep, and then a robotic voice saying "Goodbye". No clue why it keeps happening, but it’s getting really frustrating now.

Got a call from 0012245550142, said they were from Microsoft and that my computer might have been hacked. Told them straight away that I thought it was dodgy and that there’s no way I’d let them get access to my device. Wasn’t pleased at all when I said that!

Today, at 9.29 in the morning, I got a call from a guy who said his name was 'Albert' - he sounded Asian. As usual, it was the classic "we're calling about your computer" trick. I asked where he was calling from and his full name. Instead of answering, he just called me a jerk and hung up on me. Honestly, people like that aren’t just trying to scam you - they're downright rude too. It's so frustrating that nothing seems to be done to stop these annoying scammers.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was "Mark". He claimed my PC was getting infected with spyware every time it went online. Said he worked for the Microsoft Windows service team. When I asked for a contact number to check if he was legit, he just cut me off. Freaky part was, he already knew our full names, address, and phone number. Definitely fishy.

I got calls from someone who sounded Asian and said they were from Windows. Somehow they even knew where we live! My wife told them to call back when I was home, but they kept ringing non stop - probably called at least 10 times within an hour. Definitely going to block that number next time.

Got a call really early today and I didn’t pick up, figured it was unusual to get a ring at that hour so let it go to voicemail. When the message kicked in, I heard someone say “hello” with a proper British accent, but what really shook me was the noise in the background - sounded like someone was being hit or shouted at. It’s genuinely scary stuff and it’s left me and my little one feeling quite on edge. Honestly, anyone behind these calls must be pretty awful, messing with people’s nerves like that.
