Got a call from some woman talking about shares who somehow had my name, but she said it wrong. As soon as I figured it was dodgy, I cut the call. The number was from abroad, somewhere in New York, and I’ve blocked it since.

Got a call on my landline from +0012162828651, an international number. I’m on the TPS so I’m surprised they got through. The woman on the line, sounded Asian, was asking about BT shares. I told her if I had any shares in BT, I’d deal with them through the usual letters and official channels.

I got a call from +12162828651, and it really seemed shady, probably a scam from the US. They said they're calling from New York and wanted to talk about buying some shares. Honestly, I’d just hang up straight away and put them on block. Don’t get caught up with these sorts of calls!

Last Friday I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who gave her name as Lopez. She got my elderly dad’s email and claimed she’d send some documents by email. They never showed up, but she rang again today asking if the papers had been dealt with. Luckily, he wasn’t around to answer this time, but she said she’d ring back once more. It’s some kind of share scam, and she’s really pushy. Just don’t trust the call, hang up and block the number straight away.

12/05/2023 A woman with a very professional tone said she was ringing all the way from New York. She knew my name and where I lived, then told me she was working for a firm aiming to do a hostile takeover of a bank, claiming I was on the shareholder list. She asked for my email or fax to send over some documents. Since there's no way they could have those details and I don’t own any shares in that bank anyway, I just hung up.

Got a call from someone who sounded like they were Indian, said they worked for some sort of investment firm. Creepy thing was, they knew my full name and address off the bat. They told me their client was interested in purchasing 51% of RR shares and mentioned a possible price bracket. They also said they'd send me an email with more info, including a confidentiality agreement I’d need to sign and send back so their legal team could take it from there!

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent, asking for my husband regarding some BT shares. She already had my entire address, which felt a bit odd. I told her I was divorced and had no clue about any shares. She kept pressing me to reveal where he currently lives, even though I kept insisting I didn’t know. When I tried 1471 for the number, it just disconnected. Very strange!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with an investment company interested in snapping up Centric shares. They mentioned their client was National Grid, aiming to purchase 51% of Centrica. I told them to just go ahead and buy on the open market if that was the case. When I asked for their firm's name, they said GCC. I then said I'd put them on hold while I looked them up on Companies House. Predictably... the call dropped straight away.

This morning I got a phone call from a bloke with a strange accent talking about some old BT shares I had ages ago - probably about 20 years back when I worked for BT. He tried to convince me I was owed some cash, nearly fell for it! I looked up this site and found out a woman named Georgia is supposed to ring me back for "further details". Definitely a SCAM! Watch out everyone!

Might be a scam alert. Got a call from 0012162828651 where they asked if I was up for selling my National Grid shares. So some bloke rang up, claiming he was from this American firm called SEE, trying to buy up Sainsburys shares to force a takeover or summat. I told him, "Why not ring Qatar? They own most of it anyway," and also said I'd just wait for the official stockmarket announcement before doing anything. Honestly, I don’t own any shares, so it was a weird convo from the start!

So, I got a call where the person wanted to talk to my husband. When I asked what it was regarding, he mumbled something about British Gas and Centrica but it was really hard to catch. I tried checking if it had anything to do with Centrica shares since we don’t own any, and he said it kinda was, but not exactly. I asked for his phone number to get back to him later, but when I asked again after he requested my husband, he just hung up straight away. I’ve blocked the number now - no doubt it’s a scam.

The call came via BT Protect, which sends all overseas numbers straight to voicemail, so this one must’ve started in the UK. A bloke claimed to be from some company - can’t quite make out the name - talking about BT shares. When I asked him to repeat his company’s name, it was still unclear. He mentioned something about a takeover with a 51% stake. Before telling me their proposal, he said he needed to ask a question. I cut him off and told him I’d only consider anything if I got it written from BT first. He hung up instantly, no goodbye or nothing.
