This number kept ringing me loads of times. I was on my voicemail each time and right as my message finished, they’d just cut off. Proper annoying!

My mum got a call from 0012037174089 about her Aviva shares. They said they were planning a hostile takeover and claimed to already have approval from 41% of institutional shareholders. They wanted to send some paperwork and a non-disclosure agreement over. Something about it didn’t sit right with us. We’ll wait and see how this plays out.

I got a call from someone who somehow had my name and address, probably from some old Scottish Power shares I had. They were trying to buy those shares off me. When I didn’t want to give them my email or fax number, they ended up swearing at me. Quite rude!

Got a call from 0012038174089, and the person claimed to be from National Grid shares. He mentioned something about them acquiring 51% of the shares, and that they’d be sending me a form to complete and send back by email. When I said I wanted to check with my financial adviser first, he insisted it wasn’t necessary. Something about the whole thing just didn’t sit right with me, felt pretty dodgy.

I’m pretty worried after getting a call that seemed like a scam, and it said it was from BT. Not sure if it’s legit or not, but it definitely felt dodgy to me. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Just want to be sure before giving any info out.

I picked up when they rang from this number. A guy with a heavy accent started asking for my missus, but I told him she wasn’t around right now. He mentioned something about an offer on her shares. I asked if they’d be sending a letter about it since phoning out of the blue seemed odd. He just went, “Right,” and hung up. Pretty clear that was some sort of scam.

I got a call asking for my mum, who passed away back in 2017. The person was talking about some SSE shares she supposedly owned, but obviously they were sold years ago after she died. He kept saying it didn't matter that they'd been sold, but I told him I wasn't interested and ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam!

Got two calls in less than an hour from people saying they wanted to buy my Centrica shares for way more than they're worth. They definitely knew I owned shares but seemed clueless about the exact amount. Pretty obvious it was a scam. The second person actually got angry when I told them to buzz off.

Got a call on my landline from 0012037174089, showed as an overseas number. A woman with an Asian accent, maybe Indian, asked straight away for my husband by name and mentioned something about shares in National Grid. The call kept dropping out, so it was kinda hard to follow exactly what she was after, but she was really pushy about needing his email to send some documents. I told her if it’s official stuff it’d come by normal post, then ended the call. We never signed up for anything like that through email, so I reckon it was a scam. Feels dodgy and honestly pretty annoying.

I was trying to purchase some BT shares from a relative who’s passed away quite a while ago. They said they’d send the paperwork by email, but I never got anything. Tried calling them back when I was out and later checked their number here, only to find out it might be dodgy. I only gave them my email since they already had my phone number. Really hope I’m not in any trouble because of it.

Got a call supposedly from some company in New York, asking if my hubby was interested in offloading his shares in Genmark Diagnostics, which apparently bought Osmetech a while back. I had a feeling it was just another spammy call, so I let the person carry on chatting for about 8 minutes, just to waste their time and rack up the cost on their end! Pretty clear it’s a scam, especially judging by what other people are saying about this number.

This woman called me, claiming to be from Maxwell Consultancy out of New York and somehow had my name, address, and even knew I once owned BT shares, though I sold them ages ago. I wasn't fooled straightaway, but I played along, trying to find out why she was calling. Rather than answering my questions, she kept pushing me to answer hers. She said I was on their shareholder list or something. Pretty clearly a scam. Eventually, she got annoyed with me not cooperating and just hung up.

SCAM ALERT - Got a call from someone claiming to be from the States, already knew my name and started asking about shares I supposedly own. Turns out it’s one of those scams where they try to convince you to sell your shares to their “client” who’s ready to pay an inflated price because they want to control the company. They try to build trust by calling multiple times over days or even weeks. Don’t get caught up in it and make sure you report it to Action Fraud and the police!

Had a call from someone claiming to be Kirkwood Capital Group, offering to buy my Sainsburys shares at four times their current market value. They even knew my full name and exactly how many shares I owned. Before we could settle on a price, they wanted me to sign some kind of 'Confidentiality Agreement'. At one stage, they got their wires crossed and mentioned National Grid instead, which sounds similar to what others have said in their comments. The dialling code looked really odd too - like it came from Vatican City or somewhere strange!

This number rang me out of the blue, and as soon as the person started talking, I knew it was some kind of scam, so I just put the phone down. Moments later, the call came back, so I let it reach my voicemail. Afterwards, they left a really nasty message, full of insults and swear words, even threatening to send a bomb to my home. A man rang claiming to be from BP plc, saying there was some investigation going on because small shareholders weren't getting the right amount of dividends. Since we own shares ourselves and usually get a mix of new shares and cash dividends, it sounded off. He asked for our details and an email address to send some papers. My wife got a bit wary and told him to send anything by post, as surely BP would know that’s how we’d handle it. After that, he just hung up. The caller had a foreign accent and spoke so quickly she had to ask him to repeat himself several times.
