Got a call asking for a verification code, sounded dodgy so I just hung up.

Today, when I attempted to log into my Gmail on my laptop, normally I get a verification link sent to my mobile to confirm it’s me. But my phone wasn’t with me, so I picked the backup option where Google calls your landline with a code after you verify the number. I got an automated call reading out a six-digit code, which I entered and then managed to access my account. If you’re getting random calls from this number, it might be someone trying to break into your Gmail. However, if you don’t take any action, it probably means Google’s keeping your emails safe!

Got a call from this number just now, no clue why they rang me. It's the first time they've called.

I reckon this number might be legit, but still, be careful if it rings you up because scammers might be faking it. It’s a good idea to log into your Google account and have a proper look, maybe even update your password while you’re at it. Better safe than sorry!

I got a call, but it was one of those recorded messages on my voicemail that sounded like it was giving a Google verification code. Then, when I tried to sign into my Google account later, I noticed there was a warning saying someone had attempted to access it with my login info.

Phone kept buzzing but I just ignored it since I didn’t know the number. Nobody I know is in the States so I wasn’t expecting any calls from there. They didn’t even bother to leave a voicemail, which I probably wouldn’t listen to anyway.

Just had an early-morning wake-up call at half six from an unknown number, and lo and behold, here we are at six in the evening and that same number has rung me again today! When I answered, the caller claimed to be from Google, but I haven't asked for anything at all. Quite baffling, really.

I just got a call from this number, and there was a recorded message saying something about a Google Voice verification code. I don’t think Google would randomly ring you like that out of the blue. Feels a bit dodgy to me, like a scam or something. I’d say it’s best to ignore if it pops up on your phone.

I received a couple of voicemails on my phone that I’ve just had the chance to listen to. There’s an American accent providing me with some sort of code. Am I going to incur any charges for this?

I received a call from a robotic voice that provided me with a code. It insisted that I must never share this code with anyone and went on to repeat it several times for emphasis. I'm completely baffled by the whole situation and can't quite wrap my head around what’s going on.

I just got a call from 001202455888 - match 118 on 05/12/19, it was from the USA. Didn’t pick up cause I had no idea who it could be. They left some kind of message talkin about codes or numbers, sounded fishy to me. I reckon it’s prob a scam, so I’d avoid picking up if I were you.

I’ve been looking into how to set up 2-step verification with my landline through Google. It’s a bit tricky, but I reckon it’d add an extra layer of security! Anyone else tried this? Would love to hear your thoughts or tips!

I received a call from a robotic voice that kept insisting it had a code for me. It claimed that under no circumstances should I share this code with anyone. The way it echoed the code made my skin crawl. I'm feeling quite anxious, as I can't shake the feeling that this could be one of those sneaky calls that ends up racking up a massive bill.

Could someone enlighten me about the identity behind this number? I'm quite curious!

I've noticed this number popping up on my missed calls quite a bit, but the 001 prefix makes me a bit wary. I haven't bothered to get back to them, as I reckon if it was genuinely urgent, they would've left a message on my voicemail. Honestly, I’m cautious about engaging with such calls, as it could potentially give them access to my computer. My two pence is this: if a call gives you the heebie-jeebies and you’ve got an answering machine, it’s best not to respond. If it’s truly important, they'll surely ring back or drop a message.
