Just a heads up, if someone rings you up saying they’re from a phone or computer company and tells you there’s a fault with your internet or that your device is sending errors or has got a virus, be wary. They might offer to sort it out but then ask for payment through a gift card. It’s best not to bother paying them, as handing over money won’t promise you get your data back. The safest bet is to keep it straightforward and don’t let them get into your computer.

I got a voicemail that sounded like it was from BT, saying they'd found my router was being used illegally and that my internet would be cut off in 24 hours. It told me to press 1 to talk to a tech expert. Definitely a scam!
