After that, I heard what sounded like quiet sniggering from the other side. I guess they’re just banking on someone falling for it. Not exactly harmful, but definitely annoying.

Earlier today, at around 11.30am, I received a call but could only hear some unclear sounds without any voice. Consequently, I decided to end the call. I don't have the number saved, so I will leave my phone on silent for now. My intention is to avoid answering any calls until I am ready to do so. I managed to find the company - their toll free number is 0800 849 9177 and they're located in West Yorkshire, but they operate nationwide. When I phoned to complain, they promised to remove my info from their system and cancel any appointments. They didn't deny ringing from that odd number but said they'd review the call recording. Funny though, they never asked for my name or phone number, so they must have caller ID or something!

A bloke rang claiming he was with Clean Green and wanted to book an energy check. He called me by an old name I don’t use anymore, so I asked where he had got my details. He wouldn’t say, so I asked to talk to his manager, only to be told ‘she doesn’t want to speak to you’ and then I got cut off! When I tried phoning back, the number didn’t show up. Sounds like their team could do with some lessons in customer manners!

Got a call from someone called 'Cleangreen' about doing an 'energy survey' on houses with double glazed windows older than 10 years - they asked, 'Your double glazing’s more than 10 years old, right, love?'. They mentioned some kind of subsidy for new windows. When I asked which organisation they were working with (government or anything?), they just kept saying 'Cleangreen' and wouldn’t give more info. Felt like a sales pitch and seen a lot of negative reviews about them online. I’d avoid them if I were you.

Got a phone call earlier from a woman with an accent who asked if she was speaking to me, using a name, then rattled off an address with a postcode and a phone number. She kept pushing me to confirm if it was me. I didn’t say anything except I asked her name and the company she was calling from. She answered really fast and then just ended the call.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Nationwide, said it was a free survey about heat efficient windows and that they needed to come inside to have a look. They already had my name, address and number which was a bit creepy. I told them no a few times, but they kept going until they eventually gave up and hung up. Feels risky to let anyone like that in. Picked up the call and was asked if I was Mrs 'X'. I said yes, then the bloke said it was 'Roy' from Clean Green, like I was meant to know him. I said 'yeah?' and he quickly said he must've dialled the wrong number (funny, since he had my name spot on) and hung up. I've blocked that number now!

Any call starting with 0002 seems dodgy to me, so I just let it ring out. No message was left after all. Why do the phone companies let these scammers use fake numbers like this? You can’t track them or even report them properly. I reckon they're probably ringing from abroad which means TPS can’t do much about it.

Throughout this week, I have received numerous calls from the same number. So far today, I have been interrupted three separate times, beginning from the early morning. It is now 4pm and I am faced with yet another call. Despite my decision not to answer, it is becoming increasingly annoying. I have a strong belief that these calls are nothing but fraudulent attempts.

It seems that the frequency of nuisance calls is on the rise once again. I may have to resort to using the answering machine to screen my calls soon.
