Some bloke called me claiming to be Cody from the National Revenue Office, sounded like he was shouting over noise from somewhere in India. I wasn’t very polite and told him to stop ringing me. He starts calling early, like 8 in the morning and keeps at it till about 10pm. When I checked, turns out the number was faked, like a spoof that popped up on my phone to avoid being blocked since I don’t pick up Restricted or Private numbers. A mate of mine got the same calls. They said she had an $8000 grant waiting if she sent over $175 upfront. Saw a scam like that floating around Facebook as well.

Watch out, this scam is really nasty! They say they're from the US Grant Department and that you’ve been picked, along with 1500 others, to receive a one-time payout of $7500! About a month ago, I gathered as much info as I could and reported them to the FBI. After that, they kept calling me back - and honestly, their English was terrible. I ended up in a furious argument with one of them who, shockingly, admitted it was all a scam and called me an idiot for giving them more information. They even tried to say they were draining my bank account - which is laughable because I don’t even have a bank account! The idea that some foreign con artist is playing with my identity really gets me fuming. These scam artists are absolute leeches, preying on folks struggling financially in tough times. I seriously wish their call centre would get wiped out by some divine force and they’d burn alive in punishment!
