Why is it asking for my money and acknowledging that I have a cat? How does it have this knowledge about my feline companion?

There will always be unscrupulous individuals attempting to exploit vulnerable individuals by extorting money from them. I strongly advise against answering calls from unknown numbers, especially ones that are reverse charge, as you could end up being charged a significant amount of money.

I got a call from an offsatellite phone, so I just ignored it. Usually, these are scammers from Africa.

In just a couple of hours this afternoon, I received five calls from this number. Though we suspected it might be a scam, we answered the fifth one. A person speaking with an Asian accent-sounded either Indian or Pakistani-asked for us by name. When we inquired who was calling, she claimed to be Mark Davis from a company dealing with Limoges porcelain in France. We let her know that we weren’t interested in porcelain and requested she refrain from calling us again. Thankfully, she hasn’t reached out since.

I met this bloke through an online dating site. On Friday, he told me he was based in London. Then on Saturday, out of the blue, he claimed to have quit his job. By Sunday, he said he was off to Dubai for work. He tried contacting me on WhatsApp from there, but when that didn’t work, he said he’d ring me on some satellite phone. The number showed up as a load of zeros on my screen. No clue who this guy really is, but apparently, he’s already smitten. I’m bracing myself for the moment he starts asking for cash. Not falling for it!

An Indian lady rang us on the 18th of May 2010, chatting with our son, but we could hardly understand her; it was all very sketchy regarding who she was calling for. In the end, our son just ended the call. The same number tried to reach us again on the 19th of May, but as soon as we answered, there was nobody on the line, and then it just disconnected.
