NIMHE Connections 2004: Everyone's mental health matters

Date: 22-23 June 2004
Venue: Brighton Hilton Metropole
Organisers: NIMHE
Aims: Connections 2004 will focus on social inclusion and mental health. The Social Exclusion Unit publication on mental health will be launched at the conference providing a unique opportunity to work together to address the excluding, discriminatory experiences faced by many people with m ental health problems. The conference will also include the Positive Practice Awards ceremony and the launch of a strategic plan on anti-stigma and discrimination.

People, Values and Action - Values-based practice in mental health

Date: 13 July 2004
Venue: New Connaught Rooms, Holborn, London
Organisers: Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health
Aims: All of us have values and opinions, whether conscious or unconscious, that affect the way we interact with other people. This conference will examine how the values of mental health practitioners and providers of mental health services, as well as service users and carers, can affect the care that we provide and receive. It will help you make sense of your own experience and come up with practical solutions and tools for building bridges between the expectations of service users, practitioners and providers. This conference will preview a new interactive resource pack on Values-Based Practice and feature RosieWinterton as a guest speaker

Implementation of Psycho-Social Interventions

Date: 14-15 July 2004
Venue: Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire.
Organisers: NIMHE
Aims: NIMHE are hosting a two day conference in Derbyshire and anyone keen to implement these guidelines will find this conference valuable. Places will be allocated for representation from across the RDC patches, and some free places will be available for service users and carers.

The aim of this event is to:

  • Bring together those working with PSI to share their experiences
  • Offer those on the periphery of PSI an opportunity to bring themselves up to speed
  • Look at the implementation of PSI into Mental Health Services
